iLightr gets hot!

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

We love to watch our apps grow and develop over time, either gaining speed and momentum, or just engaging users within a particular platform. Much the same as a parent watching their child, we love to see our “babies” make their first big strides in the world. Well, in the case of our most recent release, our “baby” went straight from the crawling stage to a dead sprint at the 2001 Summer Olympics against Usain Bolt.

iLightr Free for Android has exploded across the Android platform, generating over 33,000 downloads in just a few days. The app has been one of our most popular apps on both the Android and iOS platform and has proven itself to be tough and resilient against other similar virtual lighter apps. As always, we could not be more proud. It is so great to watch an app spread across the market, kickin’ butt and taking names.

With so many recent downloads, iLightr has already flown to the Top Free downloads section in the Android Market. Come to think of it, the paid ad-free version of iLightr for Android is a top paid app for the Android Market as well.

Share the Love!

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

Let’s face it, being the most creative person on the block is only great if you can share your creative talents with your friends, and maybe brag a little in the process. Now you might be asking yourself “what can I do to show off my creative talents?” Well, let me tell you.

First you can download your very own copy of Masque for iPad – which is free if you participate in our Masque promo code giveaway! Then, once you’ve downloaded Masque, just import one of your amazing photos and get to work. Once you’ve created that perfect Masque-r-piece, simply upload it to your favorite photo sharing sites and wait for the applause to start.

Don’t believe me? Well, maybe you’ll believe one of Über-developers, Justin Spahr-Summers, who can explain all the reasons that sharing and importing are so great in Masque. Check it out:

Eraser: Masque’s Very Own DeLorean

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Have you ever wanted to go back in time to change some of your photo edits? If there’s anything I’ve learned from Christopher Lloyd (Doc. Brown from Back to the Future) it’s that anything is possible with a DeLorean! So, what did we do? That’s right, we bought our very own DeLorean and made it possible for each user to travel back in time in order to make your perfect photo edits possible. Okay, so that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but we did make it so each user could take back their photo editing mistakes.

The eraser tool is one of the key features in Masque that really helps you dial in your photo editing skills, allowing you to create a completely custom, mind blowing image. That’s why we decided to showcase it in our Masque feature video series. In this feature video we have the pleasure of hearing from one of the key developers of Masque for iPad, Josh Abernathy. Josh is one of Übermind’s most inspiring developers and had some great things to say about the project and what makes Masque so unique. Here’s what Josh had to say:

Masque Helps You Paint Happy Little Trees

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

We know that sometimes it can be hard to paint on effects in photo enhancing apps, which is why we made it so incredibly easy in Masque. Masque is a functional and beautiful (if we do say so ourselves) photo enhancing app for iPad. One of Masque’s key features is the ever-important brush tool. The brush tool in Masque is so incredibly intuitive that you’ll feel as if you’ve been possessed by the ghost of Bob Ross himself! We’re sure he’d be impressed by the happy little trees he could produce with Masque.

In the most recent release from the Masque “feature” video series we get a special insight to this tool from Übermind CEO and mobile enthusiast Shehryan Khan. Here’s what Shehryar had to say about the brush tool in Masque:

Onions Make You Cry, Masque won’t

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Alright, so I know the onion comparison isn’t my best, but hey, it’s hard to hit a home run every time your up to bat! Either way, it’s true – Masque won’t make you cry (with the exception of the occasional tears of joy)! Since we will be posting 5 more videos in the not so distant future, I promise to keep this short and sweet.

Masque is a photo enhancing app for iPad that offers many powerful features for customizing photos in multiple ways. One of the most highly sought after features is Layers. Layers allows users to compile multiple effects, each on different layer. From here, users can really dive in and add personal touches to create a unique image of their own.

In our latest video, Uriah Mckinney, QA Engineer extraordinaire, gives us his thoughts on the layers feature in Masque. Here’s what he had to say:

You’re Invited: Masque Movie Premiere

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Here it is, the moment we’ve all been waiting for (insert drumroll and long, dramatic pause for emphasis). Our first Masque feature video has arrived for your viewing pleasure. Guaranteed to make you run faster and jump higher, the Masque feature video is sure to rock your world. Okay, I may be exaggerating, but hey, if we didn’t think it was awesome we wouldn’t show it to you!

This is the first in the six video series that will highlight individual features in Masque for iPad, giving you an in depth look into the full potential of the app. As a bonus, you’ll get an inside look into the secret world of Übermind developers. Each person in this video series was personally involved in the creation of Masque for iPad, helping you put a face to the genius behind the app. Wait, is that Jonathon Ive, Senior VP of Industrial Design from Apple? No, we’ve got our own British heartthrob, James Lawton. James was one of the key developers on the project and was invaluable in pushing the app to its final release. Here’s what he had to say about the gradient feature in Masque.
