Aperture to American PHOTO F.A.Q.
Why does the yellow warning symbol
appear on my photos?
This symbol informs you that this photo needs to have Caption and/or Credit information added for this photo before it can be submitted. Select the photo and add this information from within the plug-in interface. Alternatively, you can add this information into the IPTC Caption and Credit metadata fields using the main Aperture interface.
How long will it take to submit my photos to American PHOTO?
This depends largely on your network connection speed. The plug-in generates full-size JPEG versions of your photos, which are usually a few megabytes each. Using an average broadband connection, it will take 1-2 minutes for each image you are uploading.
Why can I not connect to the American PHOTO server?
If you are running Mac OS 10.4, open System Preferences and in the Network pane, make sure you have "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" checked.
If you are running Mac OS 10.5, open System Preferences and from the Network pane select "Advanced" and make sure you have "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" option checked under the "Proxies" tab.
I submitted to the American PHOTO Emerging Photographer project last year, do I need to download the plug-in again?
Yes, please download version 2.0 of the American PHOTO plug-in to enter your photos into this year's edition of the American PHOTO Emerging Photographer project.
