Is ÜberUpload compatible with Aperture 3?
Yes, however we are in the process of updating our plug-ins to 64 bit compatibility and in the meantime users needs to use Aperture in 32 bit mode to continue use of our plug-ins. To do this, in the Applications folder find "Aperture" and highlight it. Now select "Get Info" from the File menu. In the info window, check the Run in 32 bit Mode checkbox. If it it locked, click the lock graphic in the bottom corner and enter your password. You should then be able to use the plug-in 32 bit mode until a 64 bit version is available. Alternatively, you may use Aperture in 64 bit mode and when the plug-in is launched an alert is displayed asking if you would like to restart in 32 bit mode to continue use of the plug-in. When you quit, the next time Aperture is launched again in 64 bit mode.
Why are my image export settings not honored when using the plug-in in Aperture 3?
There is a bug in Aperture 3 that causes plug-ins to specify the last used preset in Aperture's export dialogue instead of the one you choose when in the export plug-in module. A suggested workaround is to export an image normally using the required preset in Aperture, then use the plug-in for that setting chosen previously.
How can I get information regarding licensing?
We have a general FAQ section with a licensing page outlining the answers to most common questions here. If you find you still need assistance, please email support here.
The plug-in seems to hang when I try to export with Aperture 2.0. Why?
This was a problem for older versions of this plug-in, but has been fixed as of version 2.0.1. If you are still having this issue, try downloading the newest version.
How can I edit the settings for an existing server entry?
Simply select the server you would like to edit in the list of server Favorites, then click Edit. This will take you to the connection settings.
What server protocols are currently supported?
ÜberUpload currently supports FTP and SFTP protocols.
I am receiving errors while trying to connect or upload to a server. What's wrong?
There are various reasons for this kind of error. Typically, you want to use Passive Mode for FTP connections. Make sure your settings are properly configured:
If you are running Mac OS 10.4, open System Preferences and in the Network pane, make sure you have "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" checked.

If you are running Mac OS 10.5, open System Preferences and from the Network pane select "Advanced" and make sure you have "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" option checked under the "Proxies" tab.

If you are still experiencing issues and your firewall is enabled, ensure that Aperture is allowing incoming connections in the "Security" settings panel. In this case, Aperture would be interfacing directly with your server and be required to receive data in order to successfully process the transaction.
Open “System Preferences”
Select “Security”
Select the “Firewall” tab
Ensure that Aperture is set to “Allow incoming connections”
If not set, choose the “Allow only essential services” radio button
Click the plus (+) icon in the lower left corner
Choose “Aperture” from the applications list
Click “Add”
These issues also could be due to a permissions issue on your server. Please check with the host that your user account has the required permissions allowing read & write access from your IP address to their server.
How can I access the root folder on my server?
To access folders above your initial entry point, specify an absolute path (a path starting with a "/") in the "initial path" setting for the server. Specifying "/" will allow you to access the root path of the server (if you have appropriate permissions).
What happens if existing files on the server have the same name?
You can control the behavior of the plug-in when you try to upload files with the same name to a remote server. Clicking on the Preferences button allows you to choose whether you want the plug-in to warn you about files with identical names or if you want to automatically replace these files with the files you are uploading.
How do I use the plug-in's file compression features?
The compression option controls are located in Upload Options. You can access the Upload Options screen by clicking on the action button after connecting to a server. Then, use the "Compress" drop-down to control the zipping behavior.
What if I encounter issues using the plug-in?
When diagnosing plug-in errors, there are several system variables to take into consideration first before digging deeper into the code. Repairing your permissions is a good place to start, and also good practice after installing software. To do this, launch Disk Utility from the Applications under Utilities. Then select Repair and press Repair Disk Permissions. This basically cleans up your system files so that they can access each other properly. If this still does not resolve the issue, you could test with another account or create a new test account on your machine prior to more elaborate solutions. For more on what information you should send in when requesting technical support, please read through the general FAQ section.
